Mental health conditions and disorders are on the rise for people of all ages, but they can be especially impactful on the minds of adolescents and young adults. Most mental health concerns appear by the time a person reaches their mid-20s. Early intervention and support can mean the difference between a lifetime of ups and downs and a sustainable plan for overcoming symptoms.

Trying to manage mental health disorders alone can be tempting, but doing so can set you several steps behind where you might need to be. The truth is that professional intervention and targeted treatment approaches are typically the best way to take control of mental health symptoms for good.
There are several reasons why you might choose to seek out a Hunterdon County mental health treatment center, including the following:
When left untreated, mental health disorders rarely go away on their own. In fact, they usually get worse. In some cases, other mental illnesses may develop as a result.
Complications like health conditions, the risk of self-harm or suicide, and the formation of toxic relationships are just a few examples of consequences that may accompany untreated mental illness.
Treatment that addresses all areas of a disorder, including its underlying causes and its effects, can more effectively transform a person’s behavior. That means treating them as a whole rather than just their mental health is a priority.
Adults aren’t the only ones who can experience and be negatively impacted by mental illness. Around 49.5% of adolescents have experienced a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. These figures tend to be even higher for historically underrepresented or oppressed groups, including women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and students of color.
Hunterdon County teen mental health treatment that meets young people where they’re at can therefore be a crucial resource to have access to. Treating mental illness early and while a person is still learning key life skills can make it far more likely that they’ll live a happy, healthy lifestyle down the road.

We’re proud to offer Hunterdon County teen mental health treatment and services for young adults who need them most.
Outpatient mental health treatment in New Jersey allows patients to focus on their recovery without completely stepping away from their responsibilities. We do that by providing multiple levels of care to meet our clients’ needs.
The intensive outpatient program at our Hunterdon County mental health treatment center encompasses up to 15 hours of treatment per week. Based on client needs, care is typically provided between three to five days per week for three hours at a time.
Our IOP includes both individual and family therapy as well as medication management services to keep clients on track.
Individuals engaged in our IOP can also participate in one of our specialization programs, focusing on either trauma, problematic technology use, or both.
Each specialization program includes two therapeutic group sessions (totaling six hours of care) designed to be appropriate for those who meet certain criteria. These closed groups feature targeted skill-building, discussion, and other activities to help clients develop healthier coping mechanisms and process past experiences of trauma.
As our least intensive care option, our OP provides a single one-and-a-half-hour therapeutic group session in addition to individual and family therapy, medication management services, and family programming.
The enhanced outpatient program features up to eight hours of clinical care each week. Clients participate in two therapeutic group sessions per week, each lasting two hours, in addition to family and individual therapy, family programming, and medication management services.
This program acts as a supportive transition from a higher level of care, like an IOP, down to an OP. Flexible scheduling options allow each person to transition through our continuums of care at a pace that makes sense for them.
This program is not one of its own but is instead offered as part of our IOP and OP services. Programming occurs on a bi-weekly basis and includes fun nights of education, experiential learning and activities, and connection with a purpose.
