We offer extensive services to college students.
It’s no secret that college comes with a lot of stress – between classes, internships, research, extracurriculars, and other demands, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. As a result, many college students manage mental health concerns that can interfere with their ability to learn, form healthy bonds, and grow into the healthiest version of themselves.
A natural response to this heightened stress is to turn to easy distractions like smartphones and social media. But these coping mechanisms can cause more harm than good over time. This is particularly true for those who are also living with a mental health disorder.
Early intervention and support are often vital when it comes to treating mental health and other concerns efficiently. That’s why it’s so important to seek the professional care you may need to take control of your symptoms.
At CTRLCare Behavioral Health, our specialty is providing mental health treatment for adolescents and young adults. Our welcoming facility and comprehensive treatment approach make us a top choice for New Jersey college student mental health treatment.
No matter who you are or your experiences, we’re here to help set you on a path toward healing, personal growth, and a healthy lifestyle.
Many college students are under a lot of stress and often juggle multiple responsibilities, which can significantly increase their risk of developing mental health concerns.
College is also a time of self-discovery, shifting social circles, and significant life choices, which can be stressful and take a toll on a person’s mental health. This is especially true for college students already managing mental health concerns.
Early intervention through New Jersey college student mental health treatment can minimize mental health effects on a student’s quality of life. No matter the concern, the services here at CTRLCare can help get you back on track.
Recent figures suggest that over the past decade, mental health concerns like depression and anxiety have over doubled among college students. The number of college students who experience any mental illness, in general, is also on the rise, especially given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Things like depression and anxiety can quickly stem from being overworked, feeling isolated, or otherwise struggling with the realities of college. Students may feel like they’re trapped in a situation that drains their mental health or like they aren’t sure where to access resources to help make things better.
Stigma and fear of judgment may also motivate students to keep their struggles to themselves. A comprehensive NJ college student mental health treatment option like CTRLCare offers young adults a safe, engaging space to address their needs without fear.
Technology overuse and addiction is a unique problem that has never plagued a generation before today’s young people. Some 30% of Americans report that they are “almost constantly” online, a figure that’s been on the rise in recent years.
Many young people turn to smartphones or other tech devices to cope with increased stress levels or find pleasure throughout the day. Social media, in particular, is designed to be highly rewarding to the brain, delivering short and easy bursts of feel-good chemicals like dopamine that keep our brains chugging along.
But these habits can become problematic over time – as is true for any other addiction, we crave more to get the same mental effects. Eventually, young people may end up spending hours of their day on their phones, playing video games, gambling, or participating in other activities that seem to help in the moment but cause problems in the long run.
We work with most major insurance plans that offer out-of-network benefits. We offer a free verification process so you know your options when seeking mental health treatment in Randolph and Morris County. Our team will let you know what works best for your individual needs.
To mitigate the effects of technology overuse or mental health disorders, our New Jersey college student mental health treatment offers services meant to fit the needs of any client who walks through our doors. Our team of interdisciplinary experts, state-of-the-art facility, and unique programming options are here to help young people tackle their challenges and form a healthier lifestyle that can stick with them as they mature.
CTRLCare is one of the few options for mental health treatment for college students in New Jersey that can target multiple areas of behavioral health. Our technology addiction treatment targets problematic tech use by helping clients understand how their habits might relate to their mental health. We also teach clients new coping skills and help them find other resources to shift their behavior toward something healthier.
Our programming can address tech use problems like:
There is a strong link between tech overuse and mental health, but it’s also possible to experience mental health concerns even without a technology addiction.
Regardless, our mental health treatment services for college students span the most common concerns, including:
CTRLCare specializes in offering outpatient mental health treatment for college students in New Jersey. Outpatient care allows clients to regularly engage in treatment without stepping away from their other responsibilities.
This makes it an ideal choice for New Jersey college student mental health treatment, as it ensures students can stay in touch with things like friends, classes, clubs, and more while prioritizing self-care.
Clients can access multiple levels of care to meet their needs and successfully transition back to their daily lives:
Our IOP at CTRLCare encompasses up to 15 hours of treatment weekly, usually offered between three to five days a week for three hours at a time. This program involves both individual and family therapy as well as medication management services for those who need them.
Students participating in our IOP can also engage with one of our specialization programs, which focus on either trauma, problematic technology use, or both. Each specialization program consists of two therapeutic group sessions (six hours of care total) appropriate for clients who meet specific criteria.
Our traditional outpatient program is a popular option for those seeking NJ college student mental health treatment. As a less intensive program, our OP provides a single one-and-a-half-hour therapeutic group session. Individual and family therapy, medication management, and family programming are also available.
Our EOP offers up to eight hours of clinical care weekly for those needing extra support. It includes multiple two-hour therapeutic groups each week alongside family and individual therapy and medication management services.
This program can act as a transition between a higher level of care (like an IOP) to a lower one (such as an OP). Our flexible scheduling options allow students to transition through our continuums of care at their own pace.
Our family program is not a standalone option but is offered as part of our IOP and OP mental health treatment for college students in New Jersey. Our wellness team will provide a fun night of education, activities, learning, and connection with a purpose on a bi-weekly basis.
Our interdisciplinary team of experts leads these nights, each featuring a different topic for families and clients to focus on. The goal is to foster growth, healing, and connection among families affected by technology addiction or mental illness.
